It appears that CAIR tried to portray another situation to push it’s woke political agenda to Islamize America. However, Southwest Airlines did not cower to CAIR. Instead, it performed due diligence by conducting an investigation and standing by the flight attendant. Southwest Airlines could have gone woke but it didn't. It reported the truth.
The New York Post published an article titled: Southwest attendant told Muslim woman she’d ‘bring whole plane down.’ The article reports in part:
A US-born Muslim woman who wore a hijab aboard a Southwest Airlines flight has accused a flight attendant of forcing her to move from an exit row because she didn’t speak English — which would “bring the whole plane down” in an emergency.
The Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has filed a complaint on her behalf against the airline. It alleges that the crew member aboard the flight from Fort Lauderdale to Dallas on May 22 told Fatima Altakrouri that she would “bring the whole plane down” in an emergency because she doesn’t speak the language — despite the fact the two conversed in English, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Altakrouri, a health clinic operations manager, and her younger sister, Muna Kowni, chose the last two seats that were available next to each other in the emergency exit row, according to the news outlet. Altakrouri said the flight attendant told her sister, who does not wear a hijab, that she could remain seated in the row.
Despite speaking with the attendant in English, Altakrouri said the crew member insisted she could not speak the language and the sisters moved to other seats that were apart from each other.
“There was no valid basis that Fatima does not speak English,” Altakrouri’s attorney Marwa Elbially said. “The refusal to seat Fatima in that seat was discrimination on the basis of religion.”
Faizan Syed, executive director of the local CAIR chapter, said the complaint addresses the wider issue of Muslims being targeted by the TSA and flight crews.
Southwest spokeswoman Brandy King told the Dallas Morning News in a statement that the company apologizes to any customer who has had a “less than positive travel experience” and that they will look into the specific matter.
Syed said CAIR wants the carrier to apologize and remove the flight attendant from its staff.
Thankfully, Southwest Airlines investigated the claim and found it to be baseless. Unfortunately, this information did not make it into the New York Post article.
Insider reports:
Southwest Airlines did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. Spokesperson Brandy King told USA Today that the company's internal reports "do not support claims made by the passenger regarding comments or decisions being made based upon appearance."
"The safety of our passengers is paramount, and individuals seated in an exit row are required to verbally indicate that they can perform certain duties in flight," King's statement continued. "Our Crew is responsible for getting that confirmation from a passenger before seating them in an overwing exit row and was unable to gain acknowledgment from the passenger during boarding. Therefore, as a courtesy, the Crew offered her an alternate seat."
As stated by CAIR, the embellished “complaint addresses the wider issue of Muslims being targeted by the TSA and flight crews.” CAIR used an alleged incident that Southwest Airlines reports as an “unsupported claim by the passenger” to push it’s woke agenda to Islamize America.
