Ford Motor Company says NO to The Playboy Club.
Communications with advertisers continue to be effective.
|
The Florida Family Association office sent emails to the CEOs and Marketing VPs of all of the companies that advertised during the first episode of the NBC show The Playboy Club which aired on September 19, 2011. A Ford ad appeared during this first episode. Additionally, Florida Family Association sent out an email alert on September 22, 2011 which reported that Chrysler-Fiat was the leading advertiser during that first episode.
Ford Motor Company responded to Florida Family Association with an email stating they “are not advertising on The Playboy Club,” the ad was likely placed by a dealership group and they have reinforced their policy with these dealership groups.
Florida Family Association wanted to make sure that Ford ads would not appear again during The Playboy Club even if placed by the South Florida Ford dealer association. So Florida Family Association sent a second email that requested confirmation.
Ford Motor Company sent a second email to confirm that no more Ford ads would appear during The Playboy Club stating in part “I can assure you that my team takes this very seriously.”
The email communications which took place between Ford Motor Company and Florida Family Association are provided below in full.

If you have not sent your email to Chrysler-Fiat, the leading advertiser during the September 19, 2011 episode of The Playboy Club and the only other major auto maker that advertised during that episode, click here to send your email to Chrysler-Fiat.

David,
Thanks for the feedback.
I can assure you we have reiterated our advertising policies and issued a list of programming that we are avoiding to our Dealer Associations and the agency buying groups. We have made our position known.
I can assure you my team takes this very seriously.

Hi Susan,
In the eyes of our constituents and web visitors Ford is Ford whether the ad in question was a national buy or an association buy.
This ad was placed by SouthFloridaFord.com.
What assurance can you give us that these Ford ads will not continue to advertise during The Playboy Club.

Dear Mr. Caton:
This note is in response to your communication to Mr. Felice and Mr. Mulally regarding Ford Motor Company advertising in The NBC Series "The Playboy Club"
At Ford Motor Company, we have strict advertising policies regarding moral content in television shows which we support with advertising dollars. We also pre-screen new shows that are premiering on the Fall schedule prior to committing our investment. We are not advertising in "The Playboy Club".
You may have viewed an advertisement which was placed by a local dealership or dealer association group. While they are independent businesses, we do communicate our advertising policies to our local dealerships on an ongoing basis and encourage consistency in advertising placement.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Alan Mulally
President and CEO
Ford Motor Company
Dear Mr. Mulally,
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that Ford Escape advertised on Playboy Club on 09/19/2011 at 10:00 on NBC, Comcast channel 2 in Cape Coral, Florida.
The fact that The Playboy Club actress Laura Benanti is on the cover of the October 2011 issue of Playboy magazine clearly demonstrates NBC's partnership in promoting pornography during this show. The program appears to be an INFOMERCIAL to promote Playboy's porn business.
Why would your company support a television show with its advertising dollars that in effect is an INFOMERCIAL for ANOTHER COMPANY especially a porn company?
Numerous scenes in The Playboy Club promoted the hedonistic lifestyle.
Many Americans believe that pornography causes harm to families, marriages, men, women, children and our culture.
Will your company continue to knowingly advertise during The Playboy Club?
We look forward to sharing your response with our constituency. Thank you.
Sincerely,
David Caton

NBC’s new show called The Playboy Club is without doubt designed to promote the Playboy porn company. The fact that The Playboy Club actress Laura Benanti is on the cover of the October 2011 issue of Playboy magazine clearly demonstrates NBC’s partnership in promoting pornography during this show. This show appears to be little more than an INFOMERCIAL to promote Playboy’s struggling pornography business.
Many Americans believe that pornography causes harm to families, marriages, men, women, children and our culture. Numerous scenes in The Playboy Club promoted the hedonistic lifestyle.
Chrysler together with their Fiat investor parent was the leading advertiser on NBC’s show The Playboy Club. Dodge Journey, Chrysler 300 and Fiat advertisements aired during the first episode on September 19, 2010.
Chrysler 300 advertised twice and Dodge Durango advertised once during the September 17, 2011 episode of Blue Mountain State one of the most explicit shows on unrestricted, advertiser supported television that also bashes Christian athletes.
Fiat advertised during the September 18, 2011 airing of True Hollywood Story – Jenna Jameson, a two hour program about a hardcore porn actress.
These three circumstances are not the only time that Chrysler-Fiat has been recorded as advertising during explicit television shows. Chrysler advertised this year during the Entertainment Channel show Sexiest Voluptuous Vixens. Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Ram, Jeep Wrangler and The Big Finish advertised during the previous season airing of Blue Mountain State.
No other major automaker has advertised on as many pornographic types of shows as Chrysler has in the past year.
Florida Family Association has prepared an email for you to send to Chrysler officials, Fiat officials and dealerships. It is important the dealerships receive emails about this issue since the parent company does not appear to care about their corporate image appearing on porn shows.
To send your email, please click the following link, enter your name and email address then click the "Send Your Message" button. You may change the wording in the message.

Many Americans believe that pornography causes harm to families, marriages, men, women, children and our culture.
Glamorizing Hugh Hefner as an “American Icon” for starting the cesspool of smut that is now plaguing this country is offensive to the values of most Americans.
Airing this show on the unrestricted NBC channel that a person of any age can freely watch is equally irresponsible. |
The new show is profiled at this link but beware it is about NBC's Playboy show.
Please forward this article to friends who you know would be interested in this issue.
