FX airs new show Tyrant as planned despite CAIR’s bullying.

Florida Family Association sent out several email alerts entitled CAIR pressures FX to allow them to censor new series called Tyrant.  The alert asked readers to send emails that would encourage FX officials not to forfeit their First Amendment rights to Islamists.  Thousands of people sent emails to encourage FX officials.

FX aired the new show as planned despite the Council on American Islamic Relation's bullying.

Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, wrote that the pilot episode presents "Arab Muslim culture (as) devoid of any redeeming qualities.”

FX executive producer Howard Gordon responded in USATODAY "I completely understand the sensitivity and we've tried to be as sensitive as we can be, but at the same time, I think it's a little like watching The Sopranos and saying, 'All Italians are murdering adulterers,' " he says. "I would assure them that denigrating Muslim culture or Islam is the last thing we intend to do."
