TVGuide.com reported in June 2013 that the Disney Channel would air the network’s first same-sex couple during the Good Luck Charlie program in early 2014.

There have been no news reports regarding this issue since July 2013. 

The first new episode of the final season of Good Luck Charlie airs January 19, 2014 at 8:00 pm. 

Please urge Disney Channel officials to scrap the episode or the pertinent scenes.

Florida Family Association sent out the first email alert on July 9, 2013 regarding Disney Channel’s plan to add the first same-sex parental characters to their network which is watched predominantly by children.  

Beth K. responded to an automated Disney Investor Relations' reply email which invited her to call their office.   Beth called their office but was surprised by the disdain that the Disney personnel demonstrated toward her during the call.  

Beth K. provided Florida Family Association with this account of the response that she received from Disney:  I sent your form email to Disney regarding Good Luck Charlie and received an email response that they do not respond to emails and that if we wanted to leave a message we were to call 818-553-7200. I called the number and a young man (I don't know his name) answered. I calmly told him my concern regarding the show and his response was, "Really? This is what you're calling about? Maybe you should get with the 21st century. Goodbye." And he hung up without allowing me to say another word. I called the number back and got Susan on the phone. I explained what happened and she was brusque as well, saying that I had the wrong number to give a complaint that was the shareholder's number. She then gave me another number to call, which I did, and left a message regarding the show. I have called and left a message with the supervisor, Kimberly McKiernan.

In a first for the Disney Channel, next season an episode of Good Luck Charlie will feature a family with two moms.

Producers are currently casting the couple, with production set for next week. The episode will air in early 2014 as part of Good Luck Charlie's final season. Because Good Luck Charlie is coming to a close, the characters are only expected to appear in this one episode.

Bizpacreview.com reports in part: The LGBT lobby has been pressuring Disney lately to feature characters from its community in family-oriented programming.  Once again LGBT activists are pushing their agenda on Disney.

However, it appears from the choices that the Disney Channel made that they are reluctant to include same-sex characters on a regular basis.  Disney made the decision that these characters will only have one episode which is the last episode of the final season.  Disney has clearly limited these characters on this channel.  Additionally, Disney announced the episode more than six months before it will air.  This may mean that Disney is gauging public reaction.

Please urge Disney Channel officials to place the welfare of our children over the agenda of LGBT activists by reconsidering their plans.  Florida Family Association has prepared an email for you to send to Disney Channel officials.

I was disappointed to learn that LGBT activists pressured the Disney Channel to include same-sex parents in the Good Luck Charlie program.

The Disney Channel is watched almost exclusively by young children whose innocence should be respected not exploited.

Many parents across America have trusted the Disney Channel programming for their children.  This will no longer be the case if you start adding LGBT based content to programming that should be geared for children.

My family and many others will most likely choose not to trust the Disney Channel if you proceed with these plans.

Please reconsider your decision and place the welfare of our children over the agenda of LGBT activists.
