Florida Family Association launched an email campaign on March 4, 2024 titled: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is holding up legislation to restrict taxpayer funding to terror linked UNRWA. The alert asked people to send emails to urge Senator Schumer to Please support and move forward stand alone legislation to defund terror linked and Hamas supporting UNRWA.

Congress approved the budget bill over the weekend which included a one year ban on funding to UNRWA. This sets up a legislative battle for another day or perhaps a new president will stop UNRWA funding for four more years. Senator Schumer did not allow legislation (S431) to ban funding for UNRWA to move forward for over a year. However, the threat of government closure, senators in both parties wanting the ban in the budget package and lots of pressure on Schumer made it possible for these restrictions to pass in the budget bill.
